New Italian restaurant in LIC
26 Feb
If you haven’t noticed the banner near the police station, here it is.
A new Tuscan restaurant is opening which begs the question: Do we need another Italian restaurant (that can’t spell)?
Seriously, how hard is it to run “spell check” before pressing PRINT?
Thanks to Howard Adams for the tip!

they don’t have spell check in the old world
Is this for real? I need to check it out.
Wait, another one? Don’t we have like 5 of them already? And aren’t they all pretty good? How about something different. Like a GOOD Thai restaurant?
First, it must be authentic because Italians spell the word World wrong! 2nd, we rAlready have good Thai and we need some good Chinese here!
I’m Italian and I find your remark afensive.
Lol
it will be another mediocre Italian restaurant ( except maybe Manetta’s who’s actually pretty good )….
It’d be great if we had about a hundred other things we need rather than another Italian place… ugh.
did eric hathaway write this sign?
I don’t think it was Eric. He usually signs it. Either way, Manetta’s and Bella via are the only good restaurants in LIC. The others are mediocre.
Testaccio is easily the best Italian restaurant in LIC.
How about before everyone starts saying “Another Italian place?” or “we need this, we need that”, you wait for it to open, try it and then critique…or wait for Eric Hathaway’s long winded review with mentions of his summers in Lichtenstein. Yes, Tuscan Kitchen spelled “World” wrong, so they’re off to a really bad start, but the food could be great, who knows?
Yes, who knows? But I have to worry about the authenticity of any Italian place called “Tuscan Kitchen.”
Where will this restaurant be opening?
50th Ave in front of the Police Department, close to PJ Leahy’s
We need a decent Greek/Mediterranean or Indian place in the hood! Agree with C. that Testaccio’s is the best on Vernon.
Yes Greek/Mediterranean is sorely missed in this neighborhood. Please, not yeat another Italian place!
Greek was tried by the owners of La Vuelta and quickly closed down, so apparently there isn’t a need for Greek food in this part of LIC.
I can’t wait to taste the authentic cuisine at both rock climbing places. They’re just what the neighborhood needs!
Maybe LIC will become the Little Italy of Queens.
I just can’t agree that Testaccio’s is the best Italian. Have you had Manetta’s pasta? Seriously, it’s amazing. I had a plate once at Testaccio’s and it had a really long hair on it. I won’t go back. I’m sure it was a mistake, and it probably never happens, but still, it grossed me out. And it’s pretty pricey.
Blech!
Bertucci’s arriving next?
LIC is doomed…..
Go away Tuscan Kitchen
Honestly, you people need to go F yourselves. Someone is going to invest money in a business in the neighborhood and this is the welcome they get? Get off your goddamn high horses. If you don’t want to eat there, please do the place the honor and keep your petty mugs away.
Well said.
It goes without saying that everyone commenting out of hand before the place even opens arrived here 8.7 minutes ago themselves.
This is NYC.
If someone can’t take time to get the sign right then the care needed for excellent food will likely not be there either.
We don’t just want great quality businesses that care about quality not people looking to make some money by slopping something together.
These message say LIC is tired of garbage. We appreciate quality and attention to detail.
So maybe it is you that needs to do the Fing to your own private areas.
I think we’re past the stage of praying that people will invest in the neighborhood.
Is it so wrong to demand quality? Or variety?
Does this neighborhood have to be a testing ground for Italian restaurant concepts? Are the established, family-owned Italian restaurants in the neighborhood failing you so badly that you’re clamoring for another?
I hope they open a hardware store….
Totally agree with the hardware store recommendation. Also I would love a solid Turkish/Med place.
How about a good slice of pizza! I would love to have a place I can run into with the kids for lunch. A good old fashion slice.
