LIC Dog Poop Map (seriously)

Yesterday WNYC presented a cool map that broke down neighborhoods by most popular dog names and breeds, but in their dogged attempts to catalog the names of their canine overlords, they ignored the most important statistics on dogs available: where they’re pooping. Or more specifically, where their owners aren’t cleaning up their poop and infuriating their neighbors.
We’ve noticed a considerable amount of poop throughout Long Island City, and often it’s the same sidewalk and same dog (yeah, we can tell). There may be 40 complaints for dog waste in LIC, but I’m sure many many more don’t receive any complaints.
Please curb your dog, otherwise we’ll be forced to hire mottocrottes (like in Paris) to vacuum the streets in LIC.

Yeah, pooping is a stain on our hood!
But, the worst are owners who let their dogs off their leashes. I saw a German Shepard off his leash. Glad you think your dog is above the law or stable in every situation. Also the parks are for humans not places to let your dogs off leashes and run around or poo, sorry to say.
Most owners are good though.
And what about the geese poop??
Ahhh yes, the man who lets his huge German Sheppard off leash by Duane “rip off” Reade.
How about a new initiative…enforcement and issuance of fines for dog poop offenders and those who toss their cigarette butts on the floor! Smokers who throws their butts on the floor are scumbags like the dog owners who don’t pick up the poop!
Makes you wonder how people were raised….?
As a responsible dog owner I am (still) surprised at the flagrant disregard these other dog owners display. I am also surprised no one sees this taking place and says something. I’ve called out the few I bore witness to. Anyone who sees a dog owner not pick up their shit should say something. Of course there’s the other topic of litter—that is just as bad. Sigh.
Ravenswood Houses looked like an overused dog run when we toured it last last year.
Queensbridge Houses has improved.
LIC is the worst for this. Also there is so much disease in the area according to the local vet because of it.
I wish the people here had a little more class.
