Now that Lounge 47 is closed…
20 Jan
Now that Lounge 47 is (unfortunately) closed, what’s next?
We’d like to ask YOU to guess what type of restaurant (or shop?) will open up in this space next. Be as specific as possible (ie, Thai, Peruvian or Real Estate Agency). The one who hits it on the nail gets a free meal on us from that establishment! We’ll accept predictions for the next week only!
Please post your predictions below.

Shoe store
Indian
Techno night club with outdoor smoking area.
a Kumon tutoring center franchise. snore.
I heard the landlord doesn’t want another restaurant there, undoubtedly due to the hassles Lounge had with a neighbor.
I guess the landlord is willing to take a cut in the rent because restaurants and banks usually pay the highest rents in small retails spaces like this one.
Other good uses would be:
-Children’s clothing/toy store
-Butcher
-Hardware/ house ware store
-Cheese Shop
-Shoe Repair (space too large but we really need one)
-Citibank (sick of paying ATM fees, but very unlikely)
-Bakery Store (hopefully an offshoot of one of the many great bakeries that are HQ in LIC)
Hmmm … a bank on Vernon wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Okay. A Chase branch.
So if I’m right I get to eat at a Chase branch?
A Mexican restaurant
Bakery or Coffee Shop
cautionary tale for alewife’s back patio.
It would be nice that it will be a butcher or bakery. But the reality for boring LIC retails is that Pets or kids related business will occupy there….Time to move….
probably another pet-related store… lic is for the cats and dogs without leashes.
A real bakery would be great!!!!! Please please please no more pet related stores it’s crazy focus on the people who live here too!!!!!!!!
How about a ceramic center with classes for children and adults?
Janet Belden- Thought it would be nice to let you know in response to your request for a ceramic center, that one already exists just up the street:

Hi Jeremy -They don’t offer children’s classes.
That already exists on 44th Drive at Brickhouse Studio
Brickhouse is a wonderful ceramic center but it does not offer classes for children.
A butcher on Vernon would be hugely successful. All we have is the butcher at the Food Cellar which is ok but overpriced and limited variety.
Love the butcher and bakery idea but this neighborhood needs a solid clothing store, like an H&M or Gap. Either that or a worth-while Chinese restaurant or Capital One.
Also, dial it down a notch on the kids stuff and keep this neighborhood fun. Park Slope is the real cautionary tale.
How about a Macy’s if you are crazy enough to mention H&M?
Obviously it’s a restaurant, otherwise the meal from the establishment could be something out of a vending machine or someone’s leftover lunch from the fridge.
a good chinese restaurant or a decent, real pizza joint (nyc style for both). the bitch neighbor who caused all the trouble can suck it. it’s like this neigborhood is run by some sort of OLD-timer LIC mafia who dictate parking, retail and restaurant establishments. Time’s need, and will, change!
Parking sucks. These Nazi Italians think they own Lic because they’ve been here for 100 years.
a mom & pop hardware store!
Someone, your comment is defamatory and unrespectful. Long-time residents deserve respect and a lot of them make this neighborhood special (I am relatively new for disclosure, 2 years). Judge people with strong opinions by their opinions (which you can agree or disagree with) and do not generalize.
Pizza, Chinese, no thanks. Butcher, Bakery or Plant Nursery and shop or a hardware store would be amazing.
Praying for a butcher shop!
all you can eat sushi!
We NEED a GREAT bakery!!
sorry to see Lounge 47 go….the back garden was good fun back in the day.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was another mediocre Asian restaurant. Let’s see- Koreans open a Thai restaurant?
