Shady Park trees to be destroyed tomorrow

According the Friends of Shady Park, the Parks Department will be cutting up all of the fallen trees at Shady Park tomorrow and putting them through the chipper. Unfortunately when trees are unrooted through storms like these, they cannot be saved.
It’s an absolute shame to be losing some of the most beloved living trees in Long Island City. We hope new trees are planted and that they grow as tall and protective as these.
Just an FYI, the parking spots in front of Shady Park will be a tow zone tomorrow.
Trees are awesome. Sad.
