7 train to be down for 5 weekends!

Well, it wouldn’t be a true LIC Fall if we didn’t have service closings on the 7 train. So here we go again:

For five weekends this fall, there will not be 7 Train service between Times Square

and Queensboro Plaza. A free shuttle bus will run between Vernon-Jackson and

Queensboro Plaza.

Closures will be from 11:45 PM on Fridays to 5 AM Mondays on the

following weekends: October 6-8, October 20-22, October 27-29, November 10-12
and November 17-19.

Oh dear,
I could bring up Jimmy’s offer for a direct shuttle to Grand Central declined by the MTA.
I could bring up that some luxury high rises have these shuttles.
I could complain about how much longer the walk to Court Square feels on these weekends.
I could rejoice about more business for local places.
I could rejoice that it’s “only” 5 non-consecutive weekends rather than 12 weekends like last year.
Or I could just sigh and go have a beer.

Only 5 weekends? I doubt it. They will give us service over the Thanksgiving weekend, and I’ll bet the service disruptions continue in December

I don’t know of any highrises here that have shuttle service to Grand Central. Some places in Manhattan have that, yes, but I haven’t encountered that here.
