Don’t swim in Hallets Cove! (There’s poop in it)
4 Oct
A little north of Socrates Park you’ll notice a cove with quiet water and the occasional kayakers enjoying calm waters. What you (and probably they) don’t know is that it’s filled with poop. Human poop. In fact, a recent water test by the Water Trail Association revealed that there is a significant amount of Enterococcus bacteria present in the cove (10 times more than the legal limit!).
This has obviously raised some red flags as there seems to be an illegal sewer pipe somewhere nearby. The DEP claims to be working on the issue.
In the meantime, boating is relatively safe off the cove…swimming? Not so much.

Kayakers (Boathouse) knows and they are actually driving the testing and demanding action/transparency from DEP.
And as said, boating is safe!
