LIRR connects Queens to Manhattan (you know, like the 7 train)

The MTA has finally finished carving out the tunnel that will connect Sunnyside, Queens and Grand Central Terminal. This $8.24 billion project is scheduled to be finished by 2019.

The question to ask here is if Sunnysiders (or even LICers) will really benefit from this train as the 7 train is a good enough option (or is it?).

Why pay the higher LIRR fare?

I am a five minute walk to the “F” train. Or hop on Q102 if I see it coming. Sometimes I look at my MTA Android app to see when next bus is coming

Totally agree Ray. Except that part about your Android app. Androids suck…iPhone 5 is most amazing phone ever. Yeah, they’ll fix the maps…but Androids never work.

The good part about this for LIC residents will be the decrease in traffic on the 7, as people transfer to the LIRR during rush hour.
