LIC construction goes on and on…
21 Aug
If you think that the end is in sight for construction “pollution” in Long Island City, think again. Everywhere you look (and hear and breath) something is being leveled and built from scratch.
At what point will it be enough? Well, if you look at our sister neighborhood, Williamsburg, the answer is probably never. As long as someone is trying to sell their lot off a main road for a billion times more than what they bought it 50 years ago, there will always be developers ready to jump in with all-cash offers for their residential golden geese.
The question is, what will Long Island City look like in 10 years?

It will look like the a school-less dump. High rises and no schools. I’m moving from LIC next month and I’m SO happy!
LIC is the greatest place on earth. We just need some more retail. A few schools already exist and a few coming up. Schools are not always a good thing. With schools you get pain in the a$$ children and even worse teenagers. I wish LIC had no schools!!
Anyone know when the MTA plans on finishing construction on the Court Square 7 Station. They have taken over the streets with construction equipment and the area is full of trash. I wish they would get it done or at least clean up after themselves.
Some of the permits of the containers on 23rd St expired in April. Its ridiculous – no end in sight.
To boot the area is full of trash because there are absolutely no garbage cans in the area except in the parks. Something needs to be done with so many more people arriving in the neighborhood.
I think the MTA owes the neighborhood an explanation. Businesses along that stretch must be suffering. I know it’s not the most attractive/quiet part of LIC but it shouldn’t be a dumping ground.
