Gangs infiltrate Long Island City? [update]

Well, there you have it.

Ever since Sushi Siam rolled its last piece of sushi and Spice put up plywood, it appears there is a bitter gang war over the turf on the Northeast corner of Vernon and 48th. The gangs included are the Bloodies, the Crisps and a new gang called “21″, perhaps named for 21st street? So far, the Bloodies are winning the battle with three tags, the Crisps have two tags and “21″ has one. We reached out to local gangbanger, Stewart “Beef Stew” Williams, and he said “curry and money are green but right now the only colors that matter are red, blue and black”.

Only time will tell which gang will win out, just be sure to rock the right color when Spice opens its doors…otherwise you’re guaranteed to get inundated with their take-out menu under your door all winter long!

Update: It seems like some readers think this is real…it’s not. What should have given that away? Well, there are no gangs called “Crisps” or “Bloodies” and any gangbanger who’s nickname is “Beef Stew” would probably be outcasted by the gang itself. Oh yeah, also, we’re not in the 80′s anymore in LIC. So please, don’t call the cops.

    You guys are too funny!

I’d like to think I have a great sense of humor.

But I don’t get it. I assume it’s meant to be funny.

I guess your sense of humor isn’t as good as you think it is.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. I didn’t see the tag “funny” on my RSS reader and was going to contact the owner of Spice Up and the police to let them know about this. Why is it funny?

This story is by someone named Elijah. So maybe not real. I thought it was kinda funny that you have to dress in certain colors to get in the restaurant. Are you serious Anon about calling cops? Do you really have nothing to do in your free time? This is obviously a joke…laugh a bit.

    Actually, John, it is.

Shit just ain’t funny my man – that’s what my sense tells me. Working quite well, thanks.

You’re welcome to convince me otherwise. I’d love to know what makes this funny.

Pretty stupid joke if you ask me. If you want to be a community resource then be one. If you want to be a comedy blog then say that. You can’t be both. Imagine if you opened up the NYT and read a joke story.

    Hey No Sense..

Really? You’ve never opened the NYT and laughed at some funny piece (David Pogue comes to mind). Dude…are you like 75 living with 18 cats in LIC? And if you’re not…I can’t imagine why you live in this city with such a DULL sense of humor.

Nobody said anything about this blog being all serious all the time. This is just a fun article. There is some stupid graffiti and it’s just funny to think that there would be gangs in LIC. If you can’t find the humor in that…then go read the NYT instead.

“it’s just funny to think that there would be gangs in LIC.”

Um, really? The article was bizarre. I saw no humor in it because the premise wasn’t that far-fetched. Despite how scrubbed NYC might appear on the surface, especially in the post-Giuliani and Bloomberg era, neighborhoods in the city are always at risk of getting swallowed by crime. I could easily see the hordes descending upon our quaint corner of LIC. Wake up. You ain’t in Kansas.

LIC Spot = Serious Business, how dare they try and make a joke.

    You said it brenone! Wait…what?

Gang members are the lowest scumbag form of life and should be executed.
