VIP seats for the Fourth of July Fireworks at HALF the price!

A recent article in the New York Times talks about a VIP section for people who want a front row seat to watch the Fourth of July fireworks display on the Hudson River next week (yeah, we got screwed again). The Hudson River Park will be charging $200 per person for these VIP seats (surprise! they’re broke too!) where they will have access to food and music.

We here at LIC Spot would like to propose VIP seats to watch the fireworks display for HALF the price. That’s right. We are officially selling VIP seats for only $100 to watch the top half of the fireworks display from an undisclosed building top on Center Blvd.  If you can’t afford this price, don’t worry. We are also offering $10 seats for a strictly auditory experience of the fireworks display, right down on the LIC waterfront. It’s our way of saying “thank you” to all of the politics that went into losing the fireworks display from the East River.

Happy Crappy Fourth!

Hilarious post! Sucks not to have them on this side of Manhattan. New Jersey is probably paying Macy’s off or something. Come on…what’s the deal with this? Why can’t they just place another barge here?

Yes, where is Van Bramer in all this?

Too busy with the cry babies and their buyers’ remorse over moving near a 150 year old LIRR station.

Wow Ray..where is all of this hatred coming from dude? But yeah, SUCKS that we lost the fireworks. LIC is boring on the 4th of July. Can’t we just find some money in the budget to make our own display? I’ll chip in $50.

The people who moved by the LIRR should have known it was there.

We live by the Queensboro Bridge and hear constant sound of cars going over Queensboro Bridge. We have enough intelligence not to con Van Bramer to get involved in this.

There is a school next door to a bar in Northern LIC, because the bar was there before the school was built.

What on EARTH does this have to do with the fireworks display Ray? Do you know how loud those trains idle in the winter? And what about the smell of diesel?

        • Ray Normandeau June 27, 2012 at 10:28 pm #

Van Bramer should be trying to get the fireworks back which were in East River before new people moved in instead of trying to get votes from new people.

The 4th of July firworks is 30 minutes on one day of the year. It seem to be a better use of time focusing on an issue that has a more significant impact on the community. Van Bramer is doing eactly what he should be doing – representing his constituants. Those trains service Long Island residents and provide no benefit for LIC residents. Let them idle the trains in Long Island where the riders come from.

I for one am happy they stopped doing the fireworks on the east river. Each year thousands of people would decend on the area leaving a wake of trash and property damage. Getting in and out of ones home was next to impossible. Let NJ have it. Good riddance!

Dear Ray: want to talk about who came here first? So Americans should return NYC to Indians!! The point here is the idle trains making noises and pollution which not accptable in 21 century standard! No one here wants a 30 mins firework with crowds messing our riverside park than a better living environment! Too bad that you can not afford to buy a condo dude!

We need the fireworks here man. Yeah, even if it’s for one day of the year (and often it’s more about getting ready to watch the fireworks). Come on…it’s the American way to watch fireworks on the fourth…and we had an AWESOME view.

As for the native Americans…wow, there is so much that we’ve done wrong in this country. Why not give back to African Americans? Iraqis? Japanese? to the ENTIRE Arab world? Let’s just move forward and never make these mistakes again.

Back to LIC…we MUST get the fireworks back! PLEASE!

I also don’t miss the fireworks here. Some businesses say that they did very well on the 4th. But I always saw people camping out on the piers all day long with coolers. I thought the way it was run was an accident waiting to happen. They would allow as many people onto the piers that would fit and then some. It was only a matter of time until something happened. And then, yes, the people would leave a trail of trash when they left. Would you rather have the fireworks or damage and trash?

    >So Americans should return NYC to Indians!!

In general I feel that the way that the native Americans were treated is a disgrace.

If as in the case of Treaty of Fort Laramie (1868), the native Americans were defrauded, they should be compensated.

Don’t feel bad for my not having a condo. I have no heirs to leave assets to.
