Metro Mary Spencer is turning a mature 25 yrs old tomorrow and today she’s celebrating at her coveted spot in front of the 7 Train on Vernon Blvd.  As a top promoter for The Metro these past two years, she has quickly become a legend on the LIC scene having been placed at their prime location a little over a year ago due to her fantastic attitude, energy and spirit.  We at LIC Spot want to thank you, Mary, for being our very first “People We Love”. The world is in your hands!

I love Mary! She always hands me a Metro on my way to work. Super kind and always with a smile. Happy birthday Mary. Is she really 25?

Mary always sounds so positive. I usually don’t read the Metro, but once in a while I take it from her because of her great attitude.

Can someone please just pass out the NY Times instead? I love you Mary, but the Metro is not my favorite.

Sorry to rain on the parade. I am sure Mary is a fantastic person however, those Metro handing people that block subway entrances EVERYWHERE should find a new gig. During rush hour its hard to get down the stairs to the subway when Metro people stand in front of the entrance. They create a huge problem for commuters when they’re taking to people grabbing a metro paper. I would say its worth the bottle necking if it was compelling stuff but the only thing I would use the Metro paper for is wee-wee training for my puppies.
