As old businesses shut down and new ones come in, Vernon Blvd. is slowly adapting itself to the needs of Long Island City residents. This shot of the corner deli off 47th Rd. will soon become a one-stop boutique for crying children and stressed parents (Tribeca Pediatrics).  The face lift begs the question: What do you remember about this corner?

There was a sign already on the glass about Tribeca Pediatrics. I heard good things about them. Does anyone else have any experience with them?

This corner was vacant for way too long. The owner was too lazy to clean up what the previous tenant Corner Deli) or even put paper on the windows. A hardware store and a shoe repair would be nice for the other vacant storefronts on Vernon.

TOTALLY agree about a hardware store. But a shoe repair? Really? Who repairs their shoes anymore? It’s a throw-away society. Unless you are buying Bruno Maglis, nobody takes their shows to repair! In fact, it’s a lost art! Hey, how about ANOTHER Italian restaurant? ;-)

I take my shoes to shoe repair at least once a month and would love a shoe repair. I’m forever replacing the tips of my high heels, which costs $8-$12 . . . a lot less than a new pair of heels.

We already have a shoe repair shop in the basement of the Citi Bank building.
