A view of 1 World Trade Center as seen from Long Island City
If you haven’t noticed yet, Long Island City has a new skyline neighbor: 1 World Trade Center. Word has it that it’s about to grow taller than the Empire State Building (1,467 ft) at a rate of one floor per week! Expect the Freedom Tower’s height to be (appropriately) 1,776ft!

According to a recent article by The Real Deal, Long Island City’s average real estate prices have sky rocketed this last year. As Douglas Elliman opens shop on Vernon Blvd. the question to ask is: Is there enough inventory in LIC for them to sell?

If you hated going to Maspeth to pick up your Fedex package after your third missed notice, you’re gonna love this piece of news! Fedex is moving to LIC by 2013. Apparently they were trying to move into Astoria’s waterfront but “faced stiff community opposition”. Hmmmm…I wonder why…
